NADRA started a re-verification process from 1st July, which is used to verify your family tree through an SMS. This re-verification process is for the Pakistani citizens to make sure that there are no illegal and unknown members registered to a family tree.
Within a period of less than a month, more than 13,000 fake members have already been identified by NADRA, who are registered under different family trees. The complaints are received from the families who have come to known about alien members in their family trees through this re-verification SMS program.
NADRA started the six-month re-verification process on the instructions of the Interior Minister Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan regarding the measures taken for national security. There is an increasing number of citizens from neighboring countries trying to get fake Pakistani CNICs posing a security threat to the country. In the call of security measures taken in the country, the Interior Ministry ordered NADRA to initiate the re-verification program.
A meeting was held by the Interior Ministry, which was chaired by Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan who was informed that more than 400,000 Pakistani citizens have availed the SMS program by NADRA and that the Pakistani citizens are fully co-operating towards this initiative. The meeting was also attended by Chairman NADRA, Interior Secretary, and Interior Ministry officials.
You can verify your CNIC no and your family tree by sending your CNIC no via SMS to 8008. NADRA will immediately reply back by sending you the record of your family tree, and you can quickly identify any unknown member in your family tree. NADRA will keep the name of the individuals confidential who report about any suspect or a strange person.
