We have been seeing that Pakistan has been moving towards a more advanced kind of technological driven society. Right now PIMS has been conducting a feasibility study with regard to the usage of cellular technology so that awareness can be spread about infant and also about the young child feeding (IYCF) practices in all the women. This idea came from projects that have been running in India and Bangladesh.
Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Research Network (MNCHRN)- six-month project
Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Research Network (MNCHRN) has been executing this initial six-month project, they will be calculating the feasibility of giving access to lady health workers (LHW) this cellular techonology in all of the rural parts of the city. So far this project will be operating at two stages. Right at the initial stage, it will be gathering cellular data of expecting women, then in the latter stage, training of pregnant women will be carried out through the use of these specialized cellular applications. It is according to Dr. Tabish Hazir who has been the Principal Investigator of MNCHRN that these awareness projects for all of the expecting women have been actively practiced worldwide, and they should now be practised in Pakistan. It is a fact that so far 70% of babies in Pakistan have been delivered at home and it is the high time that large number of mothers should be given exposure about the entire specialized healthcare. This project of technology will be integrating with the health sector.
