Pakistan’s ministry for IT & Telecom has decided to homely manufacture the cellphones and smartphones. This step is taken to meet the gap in the demand and manufacture of cellphones as the demand for cellphones is increasing both in urban and rural areas day by day.
By now the around 75 percent is the mobile phone penetration in Pakistan. This initiative is likely to produce good outcomes as the population of Pakistan is nearly 200 million and 3G/$G penetration is expanding day by day. In near future, the generation of revenue by the telecom companies is expected to be approximately 1 Trillion. International Data Corporation (IDC) reports that the shipments of mobile phones in Pakistan has escalated to level of 200 percent yearly during the first quarter of 2015.
According to the Finance Ministry this effort is hoped to end up in providing the investors with great push. The imminent investors of Saudia Arabia, UAE and ASEAN are hoped for cost effective technology and the trained labor are expected to hook up with the Chinese companies. Investors are considering Pakistan as the epicenter for manufacturing of cellphones to cope up with the increasing demand of cellphones not only Pakistan but also in the areas of Central Asia, Middle East and Africa.
The revival of Telephone Industry of Pakistan (TIP) and the factory built by the Seimens of Germany is a gateway for the expected advancements to float Expression of Interest (EoIS) for the manufacturing of mobile and smartphones locally. Chinese investment in Seimens id foreseen, to be run in public-private mode of partnership after the launch of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)
This step is hoped to play a significant role not only in providing the profitable incentives but also in creating the employment opportunities for the citizens.
