The Chairman of NADRA submits a summary to the Interior Ministry suggesting for charging a fee of Rs. 15 per family for the verification of CNICs. This step is taken to meet the expenditures of the verification process of CNICs.
NADRA has introduced a new re-verification process in which it sends an SMS to the head of the family for verification of their family trees. The summary put forward by Chairman NADRA is a new step in the re-verification process. The proposal further suggests that the mobile phone companies are directed to take the SMS charges from the head of the family. Keeping in view the number of CNIC holders in Pakistan, NADRA can earn millions of rupees if the charges are implemented.
The Interior Minister Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan has directed NADRA to start the re-verification process from July 1st, 2016, but no work has been started yet. For this purpose, a committee has been set up by the Interior Ministry to find a solution for the problems occurring in the re-verification process of CNICs.
