TiE Lahore hosted Startup Masterclass: Strategies for Startup Valuation and Fundraising at Royal Palm from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. TiE Lahore Chapter (www.lahore.tie.org) is an International, non-profit organization fostering entrepreneurship with 61 chapters in 18 different countries and 13,000 members worldwide.
TiE Lahore aims to encourage and promote the entrepreneurial landscape in the country and develop innovative and relevant themes and program structures for entrepreneurs. The talk was aimed at raising insights on startup valuations, funding strategies and the fundraising climate in Pakistan. The audience included business professionals, thought leaders, industry innovators, learned academicians, aspiring startups & enthusiastic entrepreneurs.
Mr. Humayun Mazhar, Founder and CEO Cresventures and President TiE Lahore Chapter was the first speaker for the event. Cresventures is Pakistan’s first angel investment firm that aims to turn an innovative idea into a game changing reality. Mr. Mazhar is also the Founder and CEO of Cressoft, Pakistan’s first IT company to venture into export market. He currently holds principal positions on the board of various Crescent Group companies. His experience and insights on the topic were a valuable addition to the event.
The second speaker for the event was Mr. Ali Mukhtar, Director Fatima Group and Fatima Ventures. Fatima Ventures is a seed stage investment firm investing in scalable tech companies and has invested in 3 startups to date namely Beauty Hooked, MangoBaaz and Interacta. Mr. Mukhtar has completed his bachelors from University of Pennsylvania. He is also the co-founder for Donation Hub. His contribution on the topic added another interesting dimension to the event.
Faisal Sherjan was the moderator for the event. He is a former media professional with 25 years of experience in TV, new media & telephony. Mr. Sherjan is an enthusiastic entrepreneur and co-founder, mentor and chief strategy officer for various startups. Currently he is serving as the Director of LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship (LCE). Faisal Sherjan’s moderation was highly appreciated by the audience and kept the topic interesting.
Mr. Humayun Mazhar, President TiE Lahore Chapter concluded the event and shared the future roadmap of the Chapter. The talk ended on a positive note with active participation from the audience. The evening ended with a networking session, where guests interacted with each other and enjoyed a pleasant environment.
The event ended on high note with active participation from the relevant circles, academia, professionals, startup founders, incubators and accelerators. The audience applauded the efforts and greatly appreciated the topic and format of the program.
